• Strong print with striking plate tone in which the ten known copies strongly differ.
• Eventful seascape, the choppy sea corresponds to the menacing clouds.
• The cross in the background makes this seacape, which was made during the war, an apocalyptic vison.
• Made in context of Heckel's famous and today destroyed painting "Madonna von Ostende".
• Rare. 4 of 10 known copies are museum-owned: Museum Folkwang, Essen, Staasgalerie Stuttgart, Brücke-Museum, Berlin and Kunsthalle Kiel.

Fine impression. Broad margin unevenly discolored and with faitn stains and rubbed spots. Faint creasing in upper corners and a vertical pressure mark in right edge. Corners with tiny pinholes. [JS]
