Oil on cardboard.
Lower left signed and dated. Signed, dated and titled on the reverse. On thin cardboard. 74.5 x 100 cm (29.3 x 39.3 in), the full sheet. [EH].
• This is the first time that this painting, listed in the catalog raisonné as "whereabouts unknown", appears in an international auction.
• Dynamic composition characterized by a special chromaticity.
• His works were shown in two exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, as early as in the 1950s.
PROVENANCE: Private collection Hesse.
LITERATURE: Gabriele Lohberg, Fritz Winter. Leben und Werk mit Werkverzeichnis der Gemälde und einem Anhang der sonstigen Techniken, Munich, 1986, no. 1985 (illu. in black-and-white).
In good condition. Slightly rubbed all around due to framing. The lower left corner of the image with a crease. A very small surface fissure (possibly from the making) in the upper right (diameter approx. 5mm).
